Yunnan University of Finance and Economics

Yunnan University of Finance & Economics (YUFE) is a multi-disciplinary university which excels in economics and management but also offers high-quality programs in philosophy, laws, liberal arts, natural science and engineering. The university has been officially approved to confer Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s degrees. Founded in 1951, YUFE was designated as one of the key provincial institutions of higher learning by Yunnan Provincial Government in 1995. Located in the north of “the eternal spring city” Kunming, YUFE occupies an area of 68 hectares. The campus environment is pleasant and all necessities are provided to students for their convenience. The university’s facilities are among the best ones in the business-oriented universities in China. An advanced multifunctional library hosts a book collection of 1,760,000 volumes and high-tech laboratories, multimedia conference centers, electronic reading rooms and modern multi-function gymnasium have been built in YUFE.

YUFE enrolls students from 31 provinces and the total number of students is greater than 32,000 including full time undergraduates, graduates, part-time students, international students and adult students. The teaching team of YUFE consists of over 1,500 faculty members including over 900 full-time lectures. The University has established 23 schools and 2 departments. YUFE offers 41 Bachelor’s programs in the fields of economics, management, laws, philosophy, liberal arts, natural science and engineering. Moreover, YUFE is entitled to grant first–class Master’ degrees in these areas: Theoretical Economics, Applied Economics, Management Science and Engineering, and Business Administration. There are a total of 41 second-class master’s degree programs including philosophy, laws, economics, management and engineering. In 2009, YUFE is qualified as one of the candidates which will soon be entitled to grant Doctorate degrees in a few years.

In addition to teaching, academic research also plays a key role in YUFE with the establishment of more than 50 full-time and part-time research centers. The university has also published two academic periodicals, namely “Journal of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics” and “the Journal of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics Social Science Edition.” Aiming at promoting the globalization of higher Introduction Yunnan University of Finance and Economics education and academic research, YUFE has established close links with 80 universities in nearly 30 countries around the world by recruiting overseas students, conducting faculty and student exchange programs, and joint degree programs. Now, more than 30 foreign teachers and over 600 long-term or short-term overseas students are teaching or studying at YUFE every year. In addition, YUFE has also established four business Chinese language centers in Vietnam and Thailand, and created a set of international courses taught in English for the discipline of Chinese International Business. Moreover, the number of student of the three Sino-foreign joint education programs approved by the Academic Committee of the State Council has increased to 2500.
